Nonprofit focused on goal of building community rec center

The following letter was published as a letter to the editor in the Argus Observer on Sunday, June 14, 2015

Dear Editor,

Henry Ford once said, “Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.” When it comes to realizing a recreation center for the community, it is safe to say Four Rivers Healthy Community is very much focused on its goal.

Of course, a recreation center is a big project that promises to make a vital impact in our community. A project of this magnitude calls for multi-level partnerships with entities and individuals. We know developing partnerships is tedious work and we expect there to be speed bumps along the way. There will be good days and there will be bad. There will be misunderstandings that complicate the process. However, the one thing that remains certain is our commitment to the community. It’s important to note the speed bumps are not disconcerting, but rather par for the course.

Four Rivers Healthy Community has a goal and we know it well. In all of our efforts we strive to make our community a safe and healthy place to live, work, raise a family and enjoy life. We do this because collectively we value our community. We see the potential and know that through effective collaboration anything is possible. The time for high-level change is now. There are no frightful things along this path, only endless opportunities that are waiting to be seized.

Now that is something worth fighting for.
