In July of 2009, a Robert Manwill was eight years old and was beaten and murdered by his mother's boyfriend. Years later a small group of teachers and community members kept his memory alive. They started the Robert Manwill Scholarship Fund to gift awards to graduating classmates with Robert Manwill.

In 2019, 10 years after his his death, the Robert Manwill Scholarship Fund distributed scholarships to five students who were in his class.
