2016 FAFSA FRENZY CHALLENGE

How to Create an FSA ID

The goal of the FAFSA Frenzy Challenge is to encourage a school-wide rally around FAFSA completion as part of the suite of statewide initiatives that helps students navigate the college-going process during their senior year. The most commonly cited barrier to post-secondary education is college affordability. Along with being socially, informationally, and academically ready, it is equally important that all students have access to the necessary funds to enroll, persist, and complete college.

While FAFSA completion is only one step in the college-going process it is the only way for students to unlock their access to federal loans and grants, statewide scholarships and grants, and often institutional and community based scholarships and grants. Many schools across Oregon and Idaho are already participating in FAFSA completion events and hosting their own financial aid information sessions and completion nights for students and parents.

This campaign is in no way meant to replace these efforts. Rather, this initiative aims to supplement schools' existing efforts around FAFSA completion with an in-school campaign and targeted push toward filling out the FAFSA. The percentage of students completing the FAFSA has not changed significantly over time.

Four Rivers Healthy Community and the Cradle to Career Partnership hopes to increase this number among our FAFSA target schools.

The FAFSA Frenzy Challenge is an initiative of Four Rivers Healthy Community, and is supported by the collective efforts of the Malheur County Cradle to Career Partnership, Treasure Valley Community College and the Malheur County Education Service District with support from the TVCC Foundation and the Four Rivers Community Foundation.
